Pasalubong is a gift or souvenir given to a friend or relative by a person who has returned from a trip or arrived for a visit.
Established in 1978, TJN Pasalubong Foods, Inc. started as a micro-business ownership at Barangay San Jose, Baliuag, Bulacan. Its original products include homemade bottled sweets like nata de coco, ube yam, garbanzos (chickpea), macapuno; native delicacies such as peanut butter, vinegar, sampaloc candy, and bukayo (grated coconut candy).
Now located in Pulilan Bulacan, TJN’s legacy of bringing home a pasalubong lives on for more than 40 years in the industry.
Through hard work and dedication, Bulacan’s pride has been continuously manufacturing a wide array of products to better serve and cater to the tastes of its beloved Bulakenyos with a clear vision of sharing the same to the rest. Among these are kaong (sugar palm fruit), beans, monggo (mung bean), and langka (jackfruit); breads; specialty cakes; assorted pastries and its famous cupcakes and cake bars, which became the bakeshop’s flagship products.
More than four decades later, TJN Pasalubong has successfully carved a niche in the market. As a household name in Central and Northern Luzon when it comes to “Pasalubong”, it constantly strives to develop new best-tasting products and reinvent some of the old but well-enjoyed delicacies to be able to deliver your pasalubong just the way you want it.
Teresita “Tessie” J. Nethercott was born on May 16,1940. Young Tessie has always had an entrepreneurial mindset and the marketplace has become her arena. In order to help support her family’s needs, Tessie would sell a diverse range of products from raw materials like cooking oil to cooked meals such as lugaw with egg and more.
In 1960, she married William “Bill” Nethercott and later on, their marriage was gifted with seven children.
Married life was neither an easy feat. Business-minded Tessie continued to explore her options and courageously took risks— ventured into frozen food items to gain extra on top of what she earns from her small karinderya by a railroad in Bacood, Sta. Mesa, to help Bill make ends meet.
With strong faith to persevere and the aid of her loving husband, she was able to start a small food enterprise selling bottled sweet preserves in Baliuag, Bulacan— now known as TJN Pasalubong.
After transferring in Pulilan, Tessie then introduced her homemade cheese cake, which became famous amongst Pulileños and to other towns that would re-sell her products. It truly paved the way for her long-hoped-for success in the business.
Today, Tessie has raised Pasalubong to be one of Central Luzon’s largest food manufacturing companies. Her dedication, passion, and faith paired with the wisdom, guidance, and support of her husband, William, and their children, were the key ingredients to the prosperity and expansion of TJN Pasalubong Foods, Inc.
